A
unique blend of cool and warm water lakes in the
Peterborough & the Kawarthas region provides
anglers with an endless array of fishing opportunities.
From the deeper coldwater lakes of the north,
where northern pike and stocks of lake trout are
found, to the weedy shallow bays of the tri-lake
area where the mighty muskellunge roam, the waters
of the Kawarthas produce some of the best fishing
in the province. Visitors will see why Outdoor
Canada Magazine named Peterborough & the
Kawarthas one of the "Top 10 Places to Live
and Fish."

Most
Canadian residents need an Outdoors Card
to fish in Ontario if they are at least 18 years
old but have not reached their 65th birthday. A
complete and valid licence to fish consists of
an Outdoors Card plus a fishing licence
tag. If you want to fish in Ontario right away,
you can buy a "Resident Fishing Licence
and Outdoors Card Application" from one
of more than 2,000 licence issuers across the
province. A temporary paper licence is effective
immediately and valid until December 31 of the
year in which it was purchased. Click
Here for more information on how to
obtain an Ontario fishing licence.
If you do not live in Canada, you need a
non-resident licence to fish in Ontario. Click
Here for information on how to obtain a
non-resident licence.
